Job Description
Avera Heart Hospital, located in Sioux Falls, SD, is a leading medical establishment dedicated to providing exceptional cardiovascular care. With a team of over 700 committed employees, the hospital prides itself on a culture of compassion, excellence, and innovation. It is recognized nationwide for its outstanding patient outcomes and service quality, having earned a prestigious double 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, an accolade achieved by only a select few hospitals in the country out of over 4,000. This distinction underscores Avera Heart Hospital's commitment to delivering superior care and continuous improvement in all aspects of hospital services.
As part of the Avera Health system, Avera Heart Hospital focuses on advanced cardiac care, using state-of-the-art technology and evidence-based practices to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. The hospital offers a supportive and collaborative work environment where employees are valued as part of a family. They emphasize a patient-centered approach, where every team member contributes to a healing atmosphere through their dedication and professionalism.
The hospital is currently seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join their team as Housekeepers on a PRN basis (as needed), working a rotating schedule that includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Housekeeper role is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital, which directly impacts patient safety and the overall hospital experience. This position is ideal for candidates who take pride in delivering high standards of service and enjoy working in a dynamic healthcare environment.
The primary responsibilities of the Housekeeper include cleaning offices, patient rooms, guest rooms, bathrooms, lavatories, hallways, food service areas, and other patient service areas. Additionally, Housekeepers transport and restock linens to ensure that these essential supplies are readily available for patients and staff. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to perform physical tasks, and a commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment. Ensuring the hospital remains clean and orderly helps prevent infections, enhances patient comfort, and supports the overall function of healthcare delivery.
The work schedule for this position follows a five-day workweek with rotating weekend shifts, ensuring coverage throughout the week to meet the hospital’s operational needs. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but no specific licensure or certification is required to perform this role effectively. Overall, joining the team at Avera Heart Hospital as a Housekeeper offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a respected healthcare institution while developing valuable skills in healthcare maintenance and support.
