We focus on maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and comfort in all areas of the facility including resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and specialized rooms such as nurses stations and activity rooms. Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Housekeeping experience in a long-term care facility or institutional setting preferred
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical information
- Able to communicate clearly in English
- Ability to perform mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff and outside agencies
- Must be neat, clean and well-groomed
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, squat, pull, stoop and push up to 50 pounds
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress
- Must meet general health requirements including annual TB screening and physical examination
- Ability to react appropriately in emergencies
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Housekeeping experience in a long-term care facility or institutional setting preferred
- Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff and outside resources
- Must have knowledge of basic cleaning and disinfecting principles
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity in handling resident and facility property
- Ability to follow directions and complete assigned responsibilities
- Neat and clean appearance
- Respect for residents' rights, dignity and individuality
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Duties
- Clean assignment of resident rooms and bathrooms daily as assigned in accordance with facility procedures
- Keep resident rooms and contents clean and orderly in accordance with the wishes of the resident
- Clean other areas of the facility daily as assigned including tub/shower rooms, offices, kitchen, day rooms, activity rooms, halls and lobby, utility rooms, nurses stations, linen areas
- Treat all residents with dignity and respect when performing duties
- Communicate courteously, considerately and cooperatively with all facility personnel, residents and public
- Practice infection control policies and procedures
- Secure cleaning chemicals in locked housekeeping cart or closet unless in use
- Promptly report any needed repairs to Housekeeping Supervisor
- Assist with weekly and monthly major housekeeping tasks when requested
- React appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations
- Attend in-service education and staff meetings as required
