As part of the Avera Health system, Avera Prince of Peace offers a compassionate, patient-centered environment backed by a multidisciplinary team focused on moving health forward. The organization prides itself on delivering high-quality care while fostering a supportive workplace culture where all employees feel valued and empowered to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives. With a strong commitment to compassion, hospitality, stewardship, and community service, Avera Prince of Peace upholds the highest standards in healthcare service delivery and workplace ethics.
The role available is that of a regular, day shift janitorial/housekeeping worker at Avera Prince of Peace-Transitional Care. This position is integral in maintaining cleanliness and a safe, sanitary environment across various areas within the facility. It includes patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby spaces. The work schedule follows a Monday to Friday shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with every third weekend and holiday coverage from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The pay range for this role is competitive, ranging from $17.50 to $21.50 per hour depending on experience. Key skills required for this role include strong housekeeping capabilities and computer proficiency.
As a housekeeping worker, you will be entrusted with keeping the work environment orderly and hygienic by performing cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, moving furniture, and emptying trash receptacles. You will also be responsible for stock management of cleaning supplies and equipment and ensuring all assigned areas are adequately supplied with items like paper towels and toilet paper. Maintaining excellent customer relations and communication with the multidisciplinary care team is a vital part of the position, requiring attentiveness and professionalism at all times.
This position demands an individual with visual acuity necessary to safely execute cleaning tasks and effective communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and support staff. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred along with some related experience. The candidate must be able to work within all specified hours, including weekends and holidays when scheduled. The organization fosters a welcoming and respectful work environment where confidentiality and patient privacy are priorities. All activities must comply with regulations and safety standards set by CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, OSHA, and other relevant bodies.
Employees at Avera Prince of Peace enjoy numerous benefits to support their overall well-being and career development including paid time off starting from day one for eligible hires, an employer matching contribution of up to 5% for retirement planning, and ongoing hands-on training and mentorship opportunities to aid career growth. Avera is dedicated to equal employment opportunities and providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Join Avera Prince of Peace and be part of a compassionate, driven team where your role helps guide patients on their path to recovery in a clean and safe environment, playing a vital role in health care excellence.
