Job Description

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a vital organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others within the Marine Corps Community. MCCS operates as a comprehensive program that encompasses various services ranging from recreational and quality of life programs to retail operations and support services, all aiming to foster a strong and resilient Marine Corps community. The organization employs a diverse and dynamic workforce consisting of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers that work collaboratively to ensure seamless and effective operations across the board. MCCS prides itself on its service-oriented approach, maintaining an unwavering commitment to the Marine Corps mission and the well-being of its members.

The Housekeeper Leader NL-03 position at Marine Corps Base Hawaii - Mokapu Recreation Lodging is a full-time, regular role integral to ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and comfort of lodging facilities used by Marines and their families. This position involves overseeing and guiding a team of six to twelve housekeepers, ensuring that all housekeeping activities meet the highest standards of cleanliness and customer service. The incumbent will lead by example, providing both hands-on housekeeping services such as bed-making, cleaning common and private areas, scrubbing bathrooms, and handling waste, as well as supervisory duties including work scheduling, priority setting, employee training, and inspection of work areas.

A critical aspect of this leadership role is the knowledge and application of proper cleaning techniques tailored to various types of fine furniture and furnishings, as well as compliance with safety protocols and hazardous waste ordinances. The Housekeeper Leader is tasked with balancing physical housekeeping duties and administrative responsibilities, ensuring that all lodging areas are maintained in pristine condition. This includes conducting continuous on-the-job training for new staff, enforcing safety and security guidelines rigorously, and fostering a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork and customer service excellence. Candidates must exhibit strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of cleaning equipment and chemicals, and the ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively with both staff and guests.

Beyond the operational duties, this position requires the individual to have a valid driver’s license to move efficiently between work sites on the base. The role demands physical stamina as it involves lifting items up to 45 pounds regularly and requires careful attention to safety to prevent injuries related to cleaning activities. The Housekeeper Leader acts as a key representative of MCCS, upholding the organization’s values, including adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles and a commitment to a discrimination-free workplace. The role comes with a competitive benefits package such as a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching, medical and dental insurance options, paid vacation and sick leave, life and long-term care insurance, and more.

This position is crucial in maintaining the high standards expected at Marine Corps Base Hawaii’s recreational lodging facilities, contributing directly to providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for Marines, their families, and other authorized guests. MCCS is seeking motivated and capable candidates who are passionate about delivering world-class customer service while ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of housekeeping operations. Those interested in joining MCCS for this leadership role at Mokapu Recreation Lodging are encouraged to apply online through the official MCCS Careers website, adhering to application deadlines and providing any necessary documentation. This opportunity offers a meaningful career path within a respected military community service organization committed to excellence and support of the Marine Corps mission.
