Job Description

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is an essential program dedicated to supporting and enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and the broader Marine Corps Community. MCCS operates as a comprehensive service organization, blending military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers in a team-oriented environment. This collaboration ensures that the organization functions efficiently and effectively to uphold its commitment to the Corps. MCCS is deeply rooted in its mission to deliver top-tier services that improve the welfare, morale, and readiness of Marines and their families. MCCS provides services across various departments, including recreational activities, retail, food services, child and youth programs, and numerous support services that contribute to the well-being of the community it serves. The organization prioritizes a workplace culture grounded in respect, inclusiveness, and dedication, which supports employees' growth and professional development.

This particular employment opportunity is based at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma in Arizona and is for the position of Housekeeper at Lake Martinez. The housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and comfort of guest accommodations, ensuring that all visitors experience a welcoming and hygienic environment. Responsibilities include making beds with clean linens, thoroughly cleaning guest rooms by dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and sanitizing all lavatory fixtures. The role may require the use of ladders to reach higher surfaces such as walls, windows, drapes, and blinds, along with servicing rooms with amenities such as soap, cups, and coffee supplies. Housekeepers must be vigilant in reporting missing or damaged items to supervisors.

In addition to standard cleaning duties, the position occasionally requires the use of heavy industrial cleaning equipment for scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness. Candidate must be adept at handling powered equipment and knowledgeable in the proper use of a variety of cleaning and sanitizing agents. Physical demands of the job include standing, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 45 pounds independently or with assistance for heavier items, and operating industrial equipment safely.

The role emphasizes delivering world-class customer service with a friendly and courteous approach. Housekeepers are expected to assist guests promptly, communicate positively, and efficiently resolve any issues by escalating them to supervisors when necessary. Strict adherence to safety protocols and occupational health standards is mandatory. Employees must report hazards, injuries, or any incidents promptly to ensure a safe workplace. Furthermore, the position demands compliance with equal employment opportunity (EEO) policies and sexual harassment prevention principles, fostering a respectful and discrimination-free work environment.

This is a non-exempt position guided by the Department of Navy policies which ensure a drug-free workplace, equal opportunity, and fair treatment for all employees regardless of their background or personal characteristics. MCCS takes pride in supporting military spouses, offering preferences where applicable, and embraces diversity as an organizational strength. Applicants are required to follow the application procedures meticulously, including submission of necessary documents like education transcripts, military discharge forms (if applicable), and registration for selective service for eligible males. MCCS promotes employee safety, accountability, and high standards of operation, making this an excellent opportunity for conscientious individuals seeking to contribute to the Marine Corps community in a vital support role.
