Job Description
This job opening is for a Housekeeper II position at a well-established healthcare organization based in Columbus, Ohio. The role offers the unique opportunity for employees to work across multiple locations, including the Main Campus at 700 Children's Drive, Livingston Ambulatory Center at 380 Butterfly Gardens Drive, Livingston Orthopedic and Surgery Center at 405 Butterfly Gardens Drive, Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion at 444 Butterfly Gardens Drive, and the Conference Center at 520 Butterfly Gardens Drive. These locations collectively serve a broad spectrum of patient and visitor needs, with a commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene crucial in healthcare settings.
The Housekeeper II position is a third-shift role requiring availability from Monday through Friday, 10:30 pm to 7 am, including rotating weekends and holidays. This schedule plays a vital part in supporting the healthcare environment during less busy hours, ensuring that patient areas, common spaces, and specialized care centers are maintained to the organization's exacting cleanliness standards.
As a Housekeeper II, the incumbent will be entrusted with delivering exceptional levels of cleanliness, quality, and service to patients, their families, and other visitors, which directly contributes to infection control and infection prevention efforts within the hospitals and medical centers. The role demands adherence to a comprehensive cleaning regimen known as the 10 Step Cleaning Process, which outlines precise procedures and chemical usage to meet departmental criteria. The housekeeper will also demonstrate proper infection control methods, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with door precautions to safeguard patients and staff.
Responsibilities include routine cleaning duties and coordinating with management to address issues related to facility maintenance and service. The housekeeper will maintain cleaning supplies, closets, equipment, and carts, ensuring all are organized and in good working condition. Success in this position is measured not only by passing quality control inspections but also through positive customer feedback, underscoring the importance of communication and a customer service-oriented approach.
Educationally, candidates must have completed high school or hold an equivalent credential. For those assigned to the behavioral health setting, there is an additional requirement to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training within the first 90 days of employment and to maintain this certification throughout their tenure. Previous housekeeping experience is preferred, as is the ability to speak and understand English effectively to facilitate communication and ensure workplace safety.
This position is physically demanding, encompassing tasks that occasionally involve climbing stairs or ladders, lifting or carrying weights up to 60 pounds, pushing or pulling heavy objects, and working under varying temperature conditions. Frequent activities include carrying lighter weights and pushing or pulling mid-range weights, while continuous elements involve movements such as bending, twisting, standing, walking, and repetitive hand and arm use. The role also requires vigilance around potential biohazard waste, chemicals, medications, and communicable diseases, requiring both physical stamina and strict adherence to safety protocols.
This Housekeeper II role is fundamental to the healthcare team, ensuring that an optimal environment conducive to healing and patient well-being is maintained. It offers a stable employment opportunity with a reputable healthcare provider committed to equal opportunity employment and workplace safety, making it an excellent position for individuals seeking a rewarding career in healthcare support services.
