The Housekeeping Aid I/Janitorial position within Job Options Inc. is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall hygiene of public areas, patient rooms, exam rooms, nursing stations, lounges, lavatories, bathrooms, offices, and other designated spaces. This role supports housekeeping operations by ensuring that facilities meet the highest standards of sanitation and appearance, providing a clean and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors. The role includes routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming carpets and rugs, dusting horizontal and vertical surfaces, emptying waste baskets, removing trash, damp-wiping furniture, polishing bathroom fixtures, dry-mopping and sanitizing floors, spot-cleaning walls and windows, replenishing room supplies, and sorting and distributing linen. These duties require the use of various cleaning devices, including mops, dusters, industrial vacuum cleaners, and approved hospital-grade chemicals.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Housekeeping Aid I/Janitorial staff maintain assigned cleaning equipment, report necessary repairs for equipment and facilities, adhere to safety protocols, and collaborate effectively with team members to support departmental goals. The role operates on a schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with weekends as needed to meet operational demands. Because of the sensitive nature of the work environment, punctuality, reliability, and adherence to company rules, technical procedures, and safety policies are critical. Employees must also be prepared to assist in emergency situations, such as escorting ambulatory patients to safety during internal emergencies. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Three to six months related experience and/or training
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment
- Ability to follow directions and work rules
- Ability to accept constructive criticism
- Ability to interact well with co-workers, hospital staff, and visitors
- U.S. citizenship required
- Must complete security background investigation and obtain DBIDS access card
- Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Compliance with OSHA and Health and Safety Code training requirements
Job Qualifications

- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and convert standard time to military time
- Compliance with OSHA and Health and Safety Code training requirements
Job Duties
- Use cleaning devices such as light mops, small ringer, dusters, industrial vacuum cleaners, and other necessary tools, chemicals and supplies
- Vacuum carpeted areas, including area and throw rugs
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including dusting horizontal surfaces, emptying waste baskets, removing trash, damp-wiping furniture, cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain bathroom fixtures, dry-mopping and sanitizing floors, spot-cleaning walls and windows, replenishing room supplies, sorting and distributing linen
- Conduct general dusting of all horizontal surfaces including floors, vents, empty shelves, door and window frames, and equipment bases
- Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report needed repairs for equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures
- Maintain consistent productivity to complete tasks efficiently on schedule, adhere to safety protocols and demonstrate reliability
- Adhere to company rules, technical procedures, and safety policies
- Collaborate effectively with team members to support departmental goals
- Escort ambulatory patients to exits during emergencies
- Perform additional responsibilities based on operational needs
