Job Description
The hiring establishment is a hospitality company, specifically a hotel, known for its commitment to providing excellent guest experiences through high cleanliness and maintenance standards. This hotel prides itself on exceptional customer service and upkeep of its facilities, ensuring that every guest enjoys a comfortable and welcoming stay. The company places great emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout its property, contributing significantly to the overall guest satisfaction and loyalty. Working within such an established hotel provides employees with the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive team dedicated to superior service standards and operational excellence.
This job opening is for a Housekeeper position within the hotel's Housekeeping department. This role reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper and is classified as non-exempt, which means the position is eligible for overtime pay. The primary responsibility of this role is to clean all assigned hotel areas thoroughly to maintain and elevate the hotel's cleanliness standards, directly enhancing the guest experience. Housekeepers play a crucial role in ensuring guests find their rooms spotless and inviting upon arrival.
The Housekeeper is responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks including disinfecting guestrooms, bathrooms, dusting furniture, vacuuming carpets, changing linens, sweeping and mopping floors, and tidying guests' belongings respectfully. Additionally, the role involves restocking necessary supplies such as towels and toiletries to ensure that rooms are always fully prepared for each guest. The Housekeeper must use the correct cleaning chemicals safely and maintain equipment properly, following OSHA safety regulations and hotel sanitation policies strictly.
Maintaining guest confidentiality and security is a key aspect of this job, requiring the Housekeeper to handle room keys responsibly and report any maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department. The role also includes maintaining public areas and storage rooms in an orderly and safe manner. This position may require flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime, depending on business needs.
Housekeepers are expected to comply fully with company policies and safety protocols while performing their duties. They must consistently present a professional appearance, adhere to safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and have an awareness of emergency procedures relevant to both the department and the entire hotel. The hotel values employees who are reliable, well-organized, and able to work effectively under minimal supervision while maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality.
Physical demands of the job include standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Work environments may involve exposure to variable temperatures, noise levels, chemical and bio-hazardous substances, odors, dust, and other challenging conditions. The hotel provides necessary personal protective equipment such as closed-toe, non-canvas, and non-skid soled shoes to ensure employee safety.
The ideal candidate will benefit from previous housekeeping experience and exhibit solid organizational skills, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and good communication abilities. Fluency in English is desirable but not mandatory. This position offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals who take pride in their work, value cleanliness and safety standards, and are committed to supporting guest satisfaction through diligent housekeeping efforts.
