Job Description
Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg is a prestigious 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community located in Central Virginia. We are currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking Housekeeper to join our team at Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg. This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 403B retirement plan with matching contributions, and more. The working hours for this role are Monday through Friday, from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, with a competitive pay range between $16 and $17 per hour.
In the role of Housekeeper, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of various areas within the community, including resident rooms, health care centers, administrative offices, and visitor areas. Attention to detail and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness are crucial, as these efforts directly impact the comfort, safety, and health of our residents, staff, and visitors. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, such as servicing and replenishing supplies, cleaning resident rooms upon discharge, including changing linens and cleaning bathrooms, and participating in team projects to maintain all facility areas.
The Housekeeper will also be responsible for specialized cleaning duties including brushing walls, cleaning windowsills, dusting furniture, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming and shampooing rugs and carpets, and polishing metal items such as chrome fixtures. Additional responsibilities include cleaning lounges, nurses stations, offices, and ensuring all supplies are adequately stocked. The position requires assisting other housekeeping staff where needed, sanitizing trash containers, handling soiled linens, and setting up or dismantling facility spaces for meetings or special events.
Moreover, this role demands a proactive approach to identifying and reporting any deficiencies in equipment, furniture, or fixtures to maintain a safe and well-maintained environment. Job Duties
- Perform a variety of cleaning, servicing and replenishing duties in assigned resident and Health Care Center areas to ensure that medical, resident, visitor and administrative areas are maintained in accordance with established standards of sanitation and cleanliness
- service and clean resident rooms upon discharge to include changing bed linens, turning and wiping mattresses
- brush cleaning walls, windowsills, bed springs and vents
- clean bathrooms and sinks, replace towels and stock items, dust furniture
- dust mop and damp mop floors
- empty trash and hang cubicle curtains as required
- participate in the planning, scheduling, and implementing of team cleaning projects to include all locations of the facility
- sweep, mop, clean and refinish floors
- vacuum and shampoo rugs and carpets as assigned
- clean lounges, rest rooms, nurses stations, offices and replenish supplies
- provide team support and back up for other housekeepers as required
- wash windows, walls, mirrors, shelves and furniture
- clean and polish chrome and other metal items
- clean drapes, lights, vents, wheelchairs and stretchers
- clean and defrost refrigerators
- pick up trash, empty garbage containers and remove trash to disposal area
- sanitize trash containers and replace trash can liners
- pick up and transport soiled linen
- assist in unloading stock items as required
- set up and dismantle facilities for meetings as required for special events
- replenish soap, paper towels and tissue supplies
- report deficiencies in equipment, furniture and fixtures
- create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and a positive, calm environment
