Job Description

The hiring establishment is a long-term care facility dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for its residents. This facility emphasizes quality care and aims to maintain a high standard of hygiene and orderliness throughout the premises. As a healthcare-focused organization, it supports the well-being of its residents by ensuring all areas, including public spaces and private rooms, are well-maintained and free from hazards. The role offered is that of a Housekeeper, a vital position within the facility responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order throughout the establishment. This role is essential to the facility’s commitment to providing a clean living environment that supports both physical health and emotional comfort for residents and visitors alike. The employment type is full-time with a competitive pay range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.

In this Housekeeper position, the individual will play a key role in supporting the daily operations by ensuring all areas of the facility, such as lobbies, restrooms, resident rooms, and common areas, are spotless and free from any potential hazards such as obstacles or unpleasant odors. The housekeeper is responsible for sweeping, mopping floors, dusting surfaces including walls, mirrors, and windows, and emptying trash receptacles regularly. The role also requires adherence to safety standards when using cleaning supplies and equipment, emphasizing proper placement of caution signs and keeping dangerous materials out of residents’ reach. The housekeeper maintains the housekeeping carts and storage areas in a clean and organized manner, facilitating an efficient workflow.

The position demands excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude, as employees often interact with residents and staff. Time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are crucial qualities for success in this role. Although this position does not include supervisory duties, it requires close communication with management personnel, such as the Director of Housekeeping, the Administrator, or the Director of Nursing, especially when safety concerns or supply needs arise. The job also places a physical demand on the employee, requiring occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds and regular activities involving sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and hearing. The housekeeper also must demonstrate a good understanding of instructional manuals and health protocols to maintain the quality standards of the facility.

This long-term care setting values inclusivity and equal employment opportunities, inviting applicants regardless of race, gender, age, disability status, or other protected categories. The working environment typically includes low to moderate noise and odors, creating a reasonably comfortable workplace for housekeeping staff. Overall, this position offers a meaningful opportunity for individuals dedicated to cleanliness, safety, and enhancing the quality of life for residents in a healthcare environment.
