Job Description
Lunalilo Home is a respected elder care facility dedicated to serving kupuna (elders) with compassionate and quality care. The organization offers diverse opportunities for individuals who want to use their skills and experience to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Lunalilo Home is known for its strong commitment to creating a supportive and welcoming environment where elders receive the respect and care they deserve. This facility prides itself on maintaining a place of aloha, emphasizing kindness, respect, and dedication to service in all aspects of its operations. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Lunalilo Home values diversity and inclusion, ensuring no discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, veteran status, disability, or any other protected class.
The role of the Utility Worker (Housekeeper) at Lunalilo Home is a dynamic and cross-trained position. This flexible role allows the employee to be assigned to various departments according to operational needs, providing a wide range of job experiences within the organization. This position plays an essential role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and comfort at the facility. The worker is responsible for housekeeping duties, laundry tasks, and may be called upon to assist with maintenance and janitorial duties as required.
In housekeeping, the Utility Worker operates various cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, waxers, mops, and brooms to ensure all areas are spotless and well-maintained. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, washing walls, dusting and polishing furniture, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning windows, washing curtains, disinfecting toilets and showers, and restocking supplies. The role also involves cleaning resident rooms, recreational areas, patios, lanais, and office spaces, guaranteeing a warm and hygienic environment for all residents and staff.
Laundry duties are equally vital in this position, where the Utility Worker handles soiled laundry by separating items, washing them according to proper procedures, drying, folding, and delivering clean laundry promptly. Maintaining a sanitary laundry room and equipment is an important part of the job to prevent contamination and ensure smooth operations.
Due to the varied nature of the role, the Utility Worker should possess physical stamina as the job requires lifting up to 70 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods. The role also demands adherence to health and safety standards, including annual physical, infection control, and communicable disease clearances as well as TB clearance certificates.
The ideal candidate is someone who embraces the Lunalilo Home's philosophy of aloha and is eager to contribute positively to the community. The employment type and salary specifics can be discussed during the hiring process, but this role offers the opportunity to build a rewarding career in elder care with a reputable and community-focused institution. This position supports a respectful and nurturing environment for kupuna, making it appealing to those who find fulfillment in meaningful work that benefits elders and their quality of life.
