Job Description
Wellstar Health System is a leading healthcare provider committed to enhancing the health and well-being of every person served. Known for its dedication to compassionate care and clinical excellence, Wellstar operates a comprehensive network of hospitals and healthcare facilities primarily in Georgia, delivering innovative, patient-centered services. This integrated health system is recognized for fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas and make meaningful impacts. The organization values diversity, inclusivity, and a culture that honors every voice, ensuring that all team members feel respected and empowered to grow professionally.
The role of Housekeeper / Environmental Services Technician at Wellstar offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the healthcare environment by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This PRN (as needed) position supports hospital operations by performing essential cleaning and sanitation duties across various specialty areas such as Operating Room Suites, CATH Labs, GI Labs, Vascular, Labor and Delivery Suites, and Pharmacy Compounding Labs. The responsibilities include regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning according to strict protocols, maintaining compliance with infection prevention standards, and managing waste streams that include solid, biohazard, chemotherapy, and pharmaceutical wastes.
This position is critical to patient safety and the overall hospital environment, requiring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to protocols. The Housekeeper will also be trained and authorized in the proper use of specialized equipment such as Ultra Violet Light devices for high-level disinfection. Interpersonal skills are equally important, as the role involves direct interaction with patients, visitors, and hospital staff, necessitating a friendly and service-oriented attitude. The successful candidate must be able to work independently while contributing positively to the team and participating in performance improvement initiatives. This role requires compliance with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct, making it a great opportunity for someone who values structure, teamwork, and customer service excellence in a healthcare setting. The position is non-benefited and offers a day shift schedule, ideal for individuals seeking flexible work hours aligned with the hospital's needs.
