Job Description
The County of Riverside's University Health System (RUHS) Environmental Services Division is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality medical and support services across Riverside County. RUHS operates multiple medical facilities, including the Riverside University Health System Medical Center, RUHS-Public Health clinics, and a Psychiatric In-patient facility, all committed to improving patient outcomes and community health. The RUHS Medical Center in Moreno Valley is known for its comprehensive and specialized healthcare programs, supported by a diverse and skilled team of healthcare professionals and support staff. RUHS is currently seeking qualified Housekeepers to join its team at the Medical Center located in Moreno Valley. This entry-level position reports to supervisory or managerial staff and is essential for maintaining a hygienic environment in healthcare settings using prescribed aseptic techniques. Housekeepers at RUHS are responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining various hospital areas to prevent infection and contamination. The ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to wash and make beds effectively, particularly during patient discharges and transfers. Additionally, they must be adept at following all safety and security protocols unique to hospital environments, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials. Competency in understanding both verbal and written instructions is vital, along with the physical ability to lift and manage trash, linen, and biohazardous materials safely. Candidates must also be capable of working efficiently amidst frequent interruptions and maintain confidentiality regarding patient information and hospital operations.
This Housekeeper role involves many practical duties such as sweeping, mopping, washing floors and furniture, stripping and waxing floors, disinfecting operating rooms, and managing sanitary supplies. Candidates may also be tasked with moving furniture, changing curtains, and driving a light truck for waste collection when needed. The position requires a flexible work schedule, typically organized around a 5/40 rotating schedule with rotating weekends off. While no prior education or work experience is required, candidates must be able to read and write English sufficiently to perform their duties and understand safety information. Job Duties
- Use aseptic techniques to clean, sweep, wash, and mop floors, walls, beds, furniture, and appliances in hospital and healthcare areas
- strip, seal, wax, and polish floors, vacuum and shampoo rugs, clean and disinfect operating rooms
- remove contaminated materials and dispose of them safely in prescribed containers, empty and clean waste receptacles, replenish sanitary supplies, make and change beds
- mix disinfectant solutions, move furniture, change curtains and drapes, drive light truck to collect and dispose of trash
