Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 to 3 years of technical experience preferred
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment safely
  • Knowledge of infection control cleaning procedures
  • Physical stamina for repetitive tasks
  • Ability to follow OSHA safety guidelines
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies such as Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
  • Request and receive cleaning equipment and supplies such as mops, buckets, electric buffers, vacuum cleaners, rags, and disinfectants from the Environmental Service Supply Room
  • Load hand-pushed utility cart with supplies and equipment and push cart to assigned work area
  • Dry and wet mop and vacuum large areas of floors and operate buffing equipment
  • Perform heavy-duty cleaning of floors and carpet including using mechanical stripping and shampooing equipment
  • Wash, scrub, and disinfect walls, windows, and doors and determine the method of removing stains
  • Gather refuse from various hospital locations and transport to compactor or shoot
  • Move furniture and equipment using hand carts or dollies
  • Perform related tasks such as cleaning spills, washing windows, spraying insecticides, making patient beds, dusting surfaces, and hanging cubicle curtains
  • Visually inspect areas post-cleaning to ensure appropriate cleanliness levels
  • Return unused supplies, clean carts and equipment and ensure all items are properly stored
  • Report any environmental or safety hazards to supervisors for repair
  • Follow all OSHA guidelines during use of cleaning chemicals
  • Clean daily patient room checkouts using established infection control procedures within the normal time frame of 30 minutes
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
