Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or cleaning standards
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles and use of cleaning products
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment
  • Vision ability to see minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas
  • Upper body strength to lift up to 50lbs continually
  • Dexterity to push, pull and move equipment and furniture
  • Ability to work with arms raised above head for extended periods
  • Ability to maneuver maid cart weighing up to 50lbs
  • Experience using basic residential cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners
  • Experience using commercial washers, dryers and pressers
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in indoor climate-controlled environment
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reading and writing ability to complete paperwork and logging
  • Problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • Passionate about people and service.

Job Duties

  • Retrieves items from shelves and storerooms, sets up cleaning cart with supplies, maintains carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Cleans and wipes windows, doors, walls, closets and fixtures in rooms, public areas and hallways, including hard to reach areas using ladders or stools
  • Washes shower walls and tubs, cleans toilets and stall walls, wipes exposed pipes, cleans mirrors and sinks to ensure clean and sanitary restrooms
  • Replaces towels, soaps and room amenities and restocks literature
  • Washes all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and soiled areas
  • Dusts and polishes all furniture, fixtures and wall hangings including removing dust and cobwebs from vents and ceiling corners
  • Strips beds of all linen and remakes with fresh linens, checks for cleanliness and replaces soiled items, lifts mattresses to check underneath
  • Checks closets for cleanliness and restocks guest room supplies such as hangers, blankets and pillows
  • Vacuums rooms, public areas and hallways including underneath furniture, operates vacuums weighing up to 25lbs
  • Inspects door and window locks and reports any unsecured or unsafe conditions
  • Inspects room equipment to ensure proper working order and reports maintenance issues
  • Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys and supplies
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor
  • Performs additional assigned duties
  • Assists laundry department with handling and processing linens
  • Cleans patio and balcony areas and furniture
  • Provides assistance to other employees and departments.
