The Room Attendant role is a crucial part of maintaining this high standard of service, working under the supervision of the Executive Housekeeper and the Assistant General Manager or General Manager. This position is essential in ensuring guestrooms and common areas are impeccably clean and inviting. The primary responsibilities involve following a daily schedule for cleaning, maintaining guestroom and public area hygiene, and supporting overall guest satisfaction. Room Attendants are expected to pay close attention to detail, perform efficient cleaning procedures, and respond promptly to guest requests or specific housekeeping needs. This role requires physical stamina, as it involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, lifting furniture, and managing housekeeping carts loaded with supplies.

Being bilingual is considered a significant advantage for this position, enhancing communication with diverse guests and team members. The role emphasizes safety by requiring the inspection of rooms for hazards and proper functioning of equipment, as well as maintaining cleanliness of storage areas and housekeeping carts. Job Requirements

  • walking and standing for long periods of time approximately 5 to 6 hour shifts
  • pushing a vacuum cleaner
  • bending, stooping, kneeling
  • lift mattresses and arrange furniture
  • loading and unloading supply cart

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred
  • attention to detail
  • previous customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • load carts with all necessary supplies
  • turn off all electricity heating or cooling set to fan or cool setting
  • strip all beds in checked-out rooms and drop all dirty linens to the laundry
  • clean the cart and ensure that all bottles are correctly labeled
  • pace himself or herself so that rooms are being cleaned in accordance with company time constraints
  • make beds properly
  • vacuum and sweep carpets and floors
  • mop floors
  • dust, brush, polish, and vacuum furniture
  • dust and clean room decorations, appliances, and structural surfaces
  • clean showers, tubs, sinks, and bathroom items
  • remove used guest amenities and supplies
  • inspect rooms for safety hazards and for the operating conditions of equipment
  • check for damaged linens
  • report lost and found articles, maintenance problems, or special room problems to a supervisor
  • prepare rooms for guest arrivals and respond to special guest requests
  • maintain cleanliness of storage rooms and stock cart
  • remove and empty linens from housekeeping cart into laundry cart and send to laundry
  • record room status on work assignment sheets
  • other duties as assigned
