Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a comprehensive support organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Marines, their families, and the entire Marine Corps community. MCCS operates a wide range of programs and services that promote the welfare, morale, and readiness of Marine Corps members. This job opportunity is based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii within the Inns of the Corps facility, where Marine Corps Hospitality Services offers lodging and hospitality support for Marines and their visitors. The position is for a Regular Full-Time Housekeeper NA3, a vital role to maintain cleanliness, order, and comfort within the lodging facilities. The housekeeper position is full-time, with eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, medical and dental benefits, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, paid sick and vacation time, and more.
The Housekeeper NA3 is responsible for maintaining guest rooms and public areas of the lodging facilities to the highest cleanliness and sanitation standards. Duties include making beds, changing linens, dusting and polishing furniture, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows and walls, and reporting broken or missing items. The housekeeper also manages heavy cleaning equipment and performs floor care such as waxing and buffing. Beyond cleaning tasks, the role emphasizes excellent customer service and meaningful interactions with guests, ensuring their needs are anticipated and met with courtesy and professionalism.
The position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and operating powered cleaning machines. It operates within established safety protocols and standards to provide a safe work environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior housekeeping or cleaning experience recommended
- ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance
- physical stamina to stand, bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders
- ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment
- adherence to safety protocols and regulations
- valid driver's license recommended
- ability to pass background and suitability checks
- willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of carpets and furniture
- ability to handle and control heavy powered equipment
- knowledge of proper uses of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- ability to remove different kinds of stains from various surfaces
- ability to read and understand directions on labels and printed instructions
- good oral and written communication skills
- must be organized and able to multi-task
- ability to anticipate needs of guests and clients
- experience in housekeeping or cleaning services is preferred
Job Duties
- Makes beds, changes sheets, towels, and other linens
- thoroughly cleans guest rooms including dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture
- sweeps floors, vacuums, and shampoos rugs
- empties wastebaskets and sanitizes lavatories
- washes walls and windows using a ladder
- dusts drapes, blinds, and window coverings
- turns mattresses and sanitizes all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant
- services each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc.
- reports missing or broken articles to supervisor
- occasionally scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffers
- washes and replaces window coverings
- washes ceiling fixtures
- moves heavy furniture with assistance
- provides meaningful connections through customer service with an emphasis on courtesy
- assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner
- takes action to solve problems quickly
- alerts supervisor or proper contact when problems arise
- adheres to safety regulations and standards
- promptly reports workplace hazards and incidents to supervisor
- adheres to established standards supporting EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment
- performs other related duties as assigned
