The Housekeeper position at Sunrise Senior Living plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment that supports the well-being of all residents, their families, and staff. The role requires a dedicated individual to perform general housekeeping and laundry duties in resident suites, public areas, and support spaces while consistently meeting or exceeding Sunrise's high quality service standards. Responsibilities include sweeping, dusting, mopping floors, sanitizing fixtures, cleaning glass surfaces, transporting and managing linens, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Respecting resident privacy and safety protocols is essential.

In addition to housekeeping, the role involves laundry responsibilities such as sorting, washing, drying, folding, and inspecting linens for quality and wear. A clean and well-maintained laundry environment is important to ensure resident comfort and hygiene standards. The Housekeeper also supports resident care by assisting Care Managers when needed and responding positively to resident requests and feedback, fostering positive relationships built on trust and respect.

Safety and risk management are integral to this role, with strict adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals, maintaining clear exit pathways, and complying with infection control procedures. The Housekeeper contributes to the team’s success by participating in training, engagement activities, meetings, and demonstrating Sunrise's Team Member Credo through daily interactions.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred

Job Duties

  • perform general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas, and support areas while meeting or exceeding Sunrise quality standards
  • perform cleaning duties according to schedule including sweeping, dusting, mopping floors, sanitizing fixtures, polishing surfaces, and cleaning glass and woodwork
  • knock on residents and public restroom doors before entering and respect privacy
  • maintain equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly condition
  • transport supplies including clean and soiled linen to appropriate storage and collection areas
  • collect trash and maintain trash receptacles in a clean and sanitary manner
  • collect, clean, and redistribute community laundry
  • sort, wash, dry, fold, count, and stack linens following approved procedures
  • inspect linens for wear and tear and manage damaged linens per community procedures
  • maintain commercial laundry cleanliness
  • assist Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested
  • practice positive resident relations and respond to resident requests
  • review and notate Daily Logs on resident physical and behavioral changes
  • ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and locked when not in use
  • keep equipment and hazards clear of exit paths and comply with fire codes
  • promote risk management programs and comply with occupational health and safety regulations
  • practice safety procedures including PPE, fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets, and Lockout Tagout
  • maintain equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage, and accidents
  • comply with infection control techniques and bio-hazard procedures
  • participate as a team member, commit to team goals, and demonstrate Team Member Credo
  • contribute to engagement programs and attend regular meetings
  • maintain compliance with required training and perform other duties as assigned
