Job Description
The Gamma Alpha chapter of Tri Delta at Texas A&M University is a vibrant and mission-driven sorority chapter that fosters a close-knit community among its members. Tri Delta is well-known across the country for its commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment for its residents and members. The chapter house serves not only as a residence but also as a hub for social, educational, and philanthropic activities. This distinctive culture makes the house a unique place to live and work, and maintaining its cleanliness and safety is paramount to the ongoing success of the chapter.
The Gamma Alpha chapter is currently seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join their team on a full-time, hourly, seasonal basis. The Housekeeper will work on-site and report directly to the House Director. This role is essential in ensuring that the chapter home is clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming to all residents and visitors. The position emphasizes attention to detail, reliability, and a passion for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Besides regular cleaning duties, the Housekeeper will coordinate with the House Director on supply management and maintenance issues, making this role vital in supporting the chapter’s daily operations.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a mission-driven culture that values kindness, diversity, and teamwork. The work schedule typically consists of 40 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours with paid vacation and holidays totaling 40 hours per semester. Employment is seasonal and coincides with the academic calendar, operating only when the university is in session. Employees receive benefits including health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision, as well as retirement and life insurance. The Tri Delta chapter fosters a positive work environment where employees are respected and valued, creating a fulfilling experience for the right candidate.
The Housekeeper’s responsibilities include routine cleaning such as steam-cleaning carpets, dusting furniture, cleaning windows and mirrors, maintaining restrooms, and ensuring all common areas and kitchens are sanitary and orderly. Additional duties involve restocking supplies, managing trash disposal, and conducting a thorough deep cleaning over the summer after residents have moved out. On the administrative side, the Housekeeper will identify and report needed repairs, manage supplies under the House Director’s supervision, participate in staff meetings and training, and maintain professional relationships with residents, staff, and volunteers.
Candidates for this role must meet specific physical demands, including lifting up to 40 pounds and standing for long periods. They should also possess computer skills sufficient for web browsing, email communication, and basic Microsoft Office tasks. Proficiency in English, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to work independently are essential qualities for successful performance in this position. Tri Delta places a strong emphasis on integrity and professionalism, mandating a background check and drug test as part of the hiring process.
As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Tri Delta values the unique abilities and diverse perspectives of all candidates. The organization is committed to fostering an inclusive, discrimination-free, and harassment-free workplace. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy contributing to a caring community and thrive in a supportive, mission-driven environment. If you are passionate about housekeeping and want to be part of a respected organization dedicated to kindness and diversity, the Gamma Alpha chapter of Tri Delta at Texas A&M encourages you to apply.
