Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and fostering inclusive, diverse workplaces. Among its portfolio is Courtyard by Marriott, a brand specifically designed to cater to business travelers, offering a blend of comfort, functionality, and personalized service. Located at 2899 Richmond Hwy in Arlington, Virginia, this Courtyard hotel exemplifies Marriott's dedication to quality and guest satisfaction. The company values diversity of cultures, talents, and experiences, striving to create a welcoming environment where associates can thrive and grow. Marriott International also upholds equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring no discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
This full-time position focuses on engineering and facilities within the hotel, particularly emphasizing preventive maintenance in public spaces and guest rooms. The role involves planned preventive maintenance tasks such as mattress rotation and inspection, bed assembly, vacuuming beneath furniture, carpet and upholstery stain removal, dusting, paint touch-ups, and furniture upkeep. It also requires ensuring all accessories and appliances in guest rooms are present and fully operational, including lighting repairs and grout and caulking inspection. The incumbent will perform general maintenance according to property standards and procedures, including minor repairs like tightening loose toilet seats, replacing light bulbs, and filling wall holes.
In addition to maintenance, the job entails thorough cleaning of all surfaces in guest rooms, including bathtubs, tiles, floors, walls, windows, and mirrors. Safety is a key priority, with responsibilities to immediately report serious maintenance issues, unusual findings, or safety hazards to management or supervisors. Adherence to all company policies and safety procedures is mandatory, alongside participation in required safety training and certifications. The role demands professionalism in uniform appearance and confidentiality regarding proprietary information while protecting company assets.
Guest service is integral to the position, with expectations to greet guests according to company standards, anticipate their service needs, and build positive working relationships within the team. The physical nature of the role requires bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently and assisting with heavier items. Long periods of standing, sitting, or walking during shifts are typical. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned as needed. Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED, with less than one year of related work experience acceptable. This non-management role offers an hourly pay range of $21.50 to $22.00 and reflects Marriott's commitment to career development and employee satisfaction. Joining Courtyard by Marriott means becoming part of a global network dedicated to excellence and continuous improvement in hotel service and hospitality.
