The role of Housekeeper at Tustin Healthcare Center is a critical part of maintaining the facility’s reputation as a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both residents and staff. This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and offers a competitive hourly wage between $18 and $20. The primary responsibility is executing routine cleaning and housekeeping duties that align with federal, state, and local guidelines as well as the specific policies of Tustin Healthcare Center. The Housekeeper will work closely with other departments, particularly nursing services, to coordinate daily cleaning activities in both resident living spaces and shared recreational areas.

Beyond routine sanitation tasks, the position involves ensuring all cleaning practices are safely performed, using appropriate safety equipment such as back braces and mechanical lifts when lifting heavy objects, and adhering to manufacturer instructions for chemical use and disinfecting solutions. Housekeepers play a vital role in preserving a hygienic, orderly, and hazard-free environment, which directly impacts the comfort, safety, and health of residents. The facility values team cooperation highly and expects Housekeepers to maintain professional, tactful interactions with residents, family members, visitors, and staff alike. This role also requires vigilance in performing regular inspections of residents’ rooms and units to maintain sanitation standards, demonstrate attention to detail, and take independent initiative in daily responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • must possess as a minimum a high school diploma or ged
  • no experience required

  • must be able to read write speak and understand the english language
  • must possess the ability to make independent decisions follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism
  • must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel residents family members visitors government agencies personnel and the general public
  • must maintain the care and use of supplies equipment and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas
  • must perform regular inspections of resident rooms units for sanitation order safety and proper performance of assigned duties
  • must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning
  • successful completion of a background check pre employment physical and drug screening as part of the hiring process is required

Job Duties

  • ensure that work cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
  • report all accidents incidents to your supervisor
  • coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and or recreational areas
  • follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
  • wear and or use safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects
  • ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean safe comfortable and attractive manner
  • keep work assignment areas free of hazardous objects
  • follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals disinfectants and solutions used for cleaning
  • refer to manufacturer’s instructions when necessary
