Job Description

The YMCA is a globally recognized nonprofit organization committed to strengthening communities and enriching the lives of individuals and families. With a rich history and a mission rooted in nurturing the potential of children, promoting healthy living, and fostering social responsibility, the YMCA stands out as a leader in community development. It serves as a vital hub where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can come together to learn, grow, and thrive. The YMCA's inclusive culture embraces diversity and encourages personal and communal transformation through carefully crafted programs and initiatives. This organization offers more than just a workplace; it provides a welcoming environment that inspires hope, nurtures growth, and encourages determination among both its members and staff. Working at the YMCA means being part of a meaningful cause that makes a tangible and lasting difference in the community each day.

The role of Housekeeper at the YMCA is essential to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of the facilities. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring that all areas of the YMCA, including meeting rooms, pool areas, and general community spaces, are spotless, sanitary, and well-maintained. The position requires a strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety to support a positive experience for members and visitors. Beyond general cleaning duties such as mopping, dusting, and trash removal, the role includes responsibilities like window washing, pool cleaning, snow removal, lawn care, and light repairs. The Housekeeper operates various cleaning equipment and performs routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and painting. This multifaceted position also involves setting up furniture for events, contributing to facility upkeep, and reporting any necessary repairs or safety hazards. The work will often be physically demanding, requiring stamina to lift heavy objects, use ladders, and work with cleaning chemicals safely and effectively. This role embodies the YMCA's culture of nurturing and determination by playing a key part in creating a clean, safe, and inviting environment that supports the mission of strengthening the community. It offers an engaging opportunity to contribute positively every day through dedicated service and hands-on care of the facilities. This is typically a part-time or full-time position depending on facility needs, providing meaningful work for individuals who value community service and take pride in their work environment. Salary details vary based on location and experience but are competitive within the community service industry. Overall, the Housekeeper position at the YMCA is ideal for motivated individuals who want to make a difference and be part of a team dedicated to community wellness and support.
