Job Description
The Colorado Convention Center (CCC) is a premier event venue located in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Known for its innovative architectural design and expansive event spaces, the CCC serves as a hub for conventions, tradeshows, exhibitions, and other large-scale events. The Center caters to a wide range of clients, from multinational corporations to local organizations, contributing significantly to Denver's economy and community activities. As a notable employer in the region, the CCC prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. The organization values diversity, provides excellent employee benefits, and encourages career development and growth within the company.
The role of Housekeeper at the Colorado Convention Center is pivotal in maintaining the facility's cleanliness, presentation, and overall environment. This position is hourly and non-exempt, offering a competitive base wage in accordance with the City of Denver Prevailing Wage Law, starting at $22.38 per hour, with potential variations depending on specific job assignments. Additionally, new employees enjoy a $500 signing bonus after 30 days and an additional $500 bonus after 90 days of service. The CCC offers generous paid time off, holiday pay, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, which become available upon hire. Full-time employees also have access to retirement plans with a discretionary employer match, tuition reimbursement, and an employee assistance program, emphasizing the organization's commitment to their workforce's well-being and professional growth.
Housekeepers at the CCC are responsible for performing manual cleaning duties involving standard and routine tasks under general supervision. The role requires the use of various cleaning techniques such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and scrubbing of floors and surfaces throughout the facility to maintain a neat, sanitary, and pleasant environment for visitors and staff. The position entails cleaning diverse areas, including restrooms, offices, stairways, and public halls, and involves handling and disposing of waste correctly, replenishing restroom supplies, and sanitizing fixtures and equipment.
This job demands adherence to detailed instructions, whether oral or written, and occasionally the handling of non-routine duties under direction. The housekeeper must be attentive to detail and reliable, as their work is subject to continuous review by supervisors. Physical demands are significant and include frequent walking, stair climbing, bending, stooping, and the operation of equipment which may compel extended or irregular hours, especially during event schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Safety awareness is critical due to exposure to dust, noise, fumes, wet floors, and possible weather elements. The role also provides room for interaction with event managers and staff outside the housekeeping department, requiring effective communication skills.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED preferred, basic computer skills, and a strong work ethic with punctuality, integrity, and dependability. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups are essential. The CCC is an equal opportunity employer offering reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals and encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans. The position requires legal authorization to work in the United States and may require job-specific certifications.
