Job Description

Baywood Court is a well-established, not-for-profit senior living community located in Castro Valley, known for its commitment to promoting the health, happiness, and dignity of seniors residing within its facilities. As a modern and active facility, Baywood Court prides itself on creating an environment where elderly residents receive compassionate care and support that addresses their individual needs. The community is embedded with principles that foster respect and provide opportunities for seniors to maintain an engaged and fulfilling lifestyle. Baywood Court operates 24/7, reflecting its dedication to constant and reliable care for its residents, ensuring that their quality of life remains the highest priority at all times.

In this milieu of compassionate senior care, Baywood Court is currently seeking a full-time Housekeeper to join their team. This role is vital because it upholds the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards necessary to provide a comfortable and healthy living environment for seniors. The Housekeeper will typically work from Wednesday to Sunday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, highlighting the importance of weekend availability to meet the needs of this round-the-clock facility.

The Housekeeper position offers a starting wage of $19.28 per hour and is ideal for individuals who have a desire to positively impact the lives of seniors by ensuring their environment is clean, orderly, and safe. The successful candidate must be comfortable working weekends and holidays as the facility's operations require continual staffing. Baywood Court requires all applicants to complete a detailed employment application online to proceed with the hiring process, along with drug screening, physical examination including a tuberculosis skin test, and comprehensive background checks that include FBI and Department of Justice clearances. The background checks are thorough and look into minor misdemeanors and DUIs as part of the screening process.

The job involves daily cleaning duties in the health center, including residents’ rooms, shared spaces such as offices, break rooms, activity rooms, and dining areas. The Housekeeper is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of restrooms and common touchpoints like handrails. The role demands adherence to infection control policies and safety protocols mandated by state regulations, reinforcing the importance of safety in a healthcare environment.

Housekeepers at Baywood Court are expected to handle tasks like managing trash disposal, cleaning floors, and washing linens. They also manage bed linen changes for residents in Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL) areas with protocols specific to their sections. The physical demands of the job can be moderate to heavy, requiring lifting, bending, walking, crouching, and reaching. Exposure to potential communicable diseases, cleaning chemicals, and unpleasant odors is part of the working conditions, so candidates must be prepared to meet these challenges responsibly.

Baywood Court not only emphasizes the critical nature of this role but also offers a supportive environment for its employees, including opportunities to accrue up to four weeks of paid time off in the first year with a cash-out option, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, employer-paid life insurance, retirement savings plans with employer matching, pet insurance, employee meal discounts, annual scholarships for continuing education, and engaging employee events. This benefits package showcases Baywood Court's commitment to the well-being and professional growth of its staff while fostering a sense of community and belonging.

If you are compassionate, motivated, and willing to contribute to a team focused on making a difference in seniors' lives, the Housekeeper position at Baywood Court presents an excellent opportunity to join a respected organization with a welcoming culture and strong values.
