Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise company in the United States, renowned for offering unique and immersive experiences exploring America's magnificent rivers and coastal waterways. Established with a firm commitment to showcasing the beauty and heritage of the nation, the company prides itself on providing exceptional service within an authentic American context. Focusing on small ship cruising, American Cruise Lines offers over 50 diverse itineraries spanning more than 35 states, giving guests an unparalleled opportunity to explore the country's rich cultural and natural landscapes aboard the finest American ships. The company's core values—Optimism, Commitment, Patriotism, and Merit—define not only its service and culture but also how it fosters a collaborative environment for its employees and crew members.

As an integral part of its 2026 season, American Cruise Lines is seeking dedicated Housekeepers to join its shipboard hotel team for a temporary, full-time role lasting 28 weeks. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that guests receive outstanding hospitality and experience a clean, comfortable, and inviting environment throughout their journey. Housekeepers serve as proud representatives of American Cruise Lines' brand, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest service on board. The position offers a competitive wage ranging from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, complemented by additional bonuses. With all major living expenses covered aboard the ship—including travel, room, board, uniforms, and training—this role provides a unique opportunity to save earnings while traveling across the country.

Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in staterooms, public spaces, and facilities to meet the company's rigorous hospitality standards. In addition to routine housekeeping duties like vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning upholstered furniture, organizing inventories, and managing trash disposal, Housekeepers actively engage with guests to respond to housekeeping inquiries promptly and cordially. They contribute to creating genuine guest relationships and participate in special events, from greeting guests during embarkation to supporting social gatherings such as afternoon tea and cocktail parties. This role requires physical endurance and adaptability, as it involves working approximately 12 hours a day in an environment subject to the natural motions of the ship caused by wind and water currents. Essential functional abilities include standing for entire shifts, lifting moderate weight, bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and living on board for extended periods.

American Cruise Lines emphasizes safety and readiness, providing comprehensive training on emergency procedures and ship operation safety functions for all shipboard employees. As part of the company's rigorous hiring process, applicants undergo pre-employment drug testing, and strict grooming standards apply regarding visible tattoos and piercings. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that employment decisions are made without regard to any protected characteristics. This temporary position does not guarantee future employment but offers employees the chance to build foundational hospitality skills and potentially advance within the organization. Successful candidates will exhibit professionalism, maintain composure under pressure, and foster a positive team spirit, contributing to American Cruise Lines’ status as America’s Leading Small Ship Cruise Line.
