The Housekeeper role at the White Sands Hotel is an essential position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms and public areas in line with established standards. This role plays a critical part in enhancing guest satisfaction and maximizing hotel revenues through meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to hospitality standards. The Housekeeper is expected to use a variety of cleaning equipment and products safely and efficiently, ensuring all areas – from linens to floors, windows, and furniture – are spotless and inviting.

Additional responsibilities include restocking room amenities, inspecting rooms to ensure all equipment and locks function properly, and maintaining the orderly condition of cleaning carts and storerooms to improve operational efficiency. The Housekeeper also supports the laundry department by handling soiled linens and helps maintain outdoor areas such as patios and balconies.

This position requires physical stamina and strength, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work with arms raised overhead, and operate cleaning machinery. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent with experience in hospitality cleaning standards from brands like Marriott, Hilton, IHG, or Wyndham preferred.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Clean and prepare guest rooms and public areas according to established standards
  • retrieve items from shelves and storerooms, maintaining cleaning carts and storerooms orderly
  • clean windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures including hard-to-reach areas
  • wash shower walls, tubs, toilets, mirrors, sinks, and walls for sanitation
  • replace towels, soaps, room amenities, and restock literature
  • wash all hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt
  • dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings
  • strip beds, remake linens, check beddings for cleanliness
  • vacuum rooms, public areas and hallways including under furniture
  • inspect door and window locks for safety and report issues
  • inspect room equipment and report maintenance needs
  • secure and maintain custody of equipment, keys and supplies
  • maintain friendly and courteous demeanor
  • assist laundry department with handling soiled linen and laundry operations
  • clean patio and balcony areas
  • assist other employees and departments as needed
