Cleanliness and maintenance of the environment play a critical role in fostering a therapeutic atmosphere within the hospital. \n\nThe Housekeeper position at the Behavioral Center of Michigan is a full-time role scheduled during the day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. This role reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is primarily responsible for ensuring all patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, common spaces, and other areas are meticulously cleaned and maintained. This helps to ensure that the facility is not only visually appealing but also hygienically safe for patients undergoing treatment as well as staff and visitors navigating the space. \n\nThe Housekeeper will perform routine cleaning tasks using approved chemicals and supplies to uphold cleanliness and disinfection standards, especially in sensitive patient care areas. Following patient discharges, the housekeeper is responsible for thorough cleaning of beds, furniture, floors, and other relevant surfaces, making sure that the rooms are properly sanitized before the next patient arrives. The role also involves reporting facility damages or hazards to the Housekeeping Supervisor to maintain safe conditions throughout the hospital. \n\nIn addition, the individual filling this role will be expected to use and maintain cleaning equipment properly, transport trash including hazardous waste to designated disposal areas, and comply with safety protocols to avoid potential risks. With 1-2 years of prior housekeeping experience, preferably within a hospital or inpatient setting, the ideal candidate will be well-versed in sanitation procedures and infection control practices that are vital in a healthcare environment. \n\nThe Housekeeper role at BCM plays a key supportive function in sustaining the center’s mission to provide quality behavioral health care.
