The institution is committed to providing superior patient care, advancing pediatric research, and fostering innovation in healthcare. The role of Floor Care Technician supporting the Environmental Services Department is an essential position within Seattle Children's hospital environment. These technicians play a vital role in maintaining the hospital’s cleanliness and hygiene standards by caring for both hard surface and carpeted floors in the hospital and ancillary facilities. This position specifically emphasizes routine floor maintenance tasks, including cleaning, burnishing, and adherence to floor-cleaning schedules, all critical to ensuring safe, clean, and aesthetically appealing healthcare settings. Technicians must have knowledge and skill in operating floor cleaning machinery and executing processes tailored for both hard and soft floor surfaces.
In addition to routine maintenance, Floor Care Technicians are responsible for project cleaning activities such as steam cleaning, deep cleaning, and construction follow-up cleanings, demonstrating the crucial impact they have on maintaining a safe and sanitary hospital environment. The role requires working during evening to night shifts, supporting the hospital’s operational needs during those times. Compensation for this full-time role ranges from $21.30 to $30.33 per hour, with exact offers varying based on skills, experience, and equity considerations. Seattle Children’s emphasizes professional experience, with at least six months of floor care or machinery operation preferred, and values certifications such as those from the IICRC for Floor Care Technician and Carpet Care Technician as strong credentials for the role.
This position is ideal for candidates who are physically capable and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to following specific instructions and safety procedures. The Floor Care Technician contributes directly to the patient care environment by ensuring floors are clean, safe, and well-maintained, which is critical for infection control and overall hospital safety. Seattle Children's also encourages applications from individuals who reflect the diversity of the community, fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees are valued and supported. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more, supporting a comprehensive work-life balance. Joining the Environmental Services team means becoming part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children and families in the largest pediatric service region in the country.
