Job Description

This job opening is within an Assisted Living Community dedicated to providing a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment for elderly and disabled individuals who require assistance with daily living. The role involves assisting in the overall cleaning and maintenance of the Assisted Living Community to achieve and sustain a sanitation grade of 90 or above. Responsibilities include the general cleaning of all areas within the community such as floors, furniture, walls, bathrooms, laundry facilities, baseboards, and door facings. The incumbent must diligently place safety warning signs during cleaning activities to protect residents, visitors, and staff from potential hazards. Maintaining adequate supplies of soap, paper towels, and tissues is critical to meet the needs of residents and staff efficiently. Additionally, timely emptying and cleaning of trash receptacles are required to prevent unpleasant odors and maintain cleanliness.

Inventory management and budgeting for cleaning chemicals and housekeeping supplies constitute an important part of this role. This position requires adherence to purchasing protocols and maintaining proper documentation of receipts for administrative review. The candidate must operate within facility policies while respecting all residents' rights, treating personal information with strict confidentiality, and supporting the dignity and safety of each resident. The applicant is expected to work cooperatively with other staff members, residents, and their families, fostering a supportive community environment.

Familiarity and compliance with all safety standards including accident prevention, fire safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and emergency procedures are mandatory. The individual must also adhere to state-specific requirements such as the Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights, assisting residents in exercising these rights. Responsible stewardship of equipment and supplies is required, ensuring resources are used efficiently and cleaning materials are securely stored when not in use.   • must have a clear SBI and DMV record and maintain them during period of employment
  • must have a two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test)

Job Duties

  • general cleaning of entire community including floors, furniture, vacuuming and dusting, bathroom facilities, laundry facilities, baseboards, door facings and walls to maintain sanitation grade of 90 or above
  • place appropriate warning signs in all areas where floors are being cleaned to ensure safety of residents, visitors and employees
  • maintain supplies of soap, paper towels and tissue in appropriate areas
  • empty and clean all trash cans regularly as needed
  • eliminate unpleasant odors at all times
  • take inventory and purchase chemical and housekeeping supplies to operate within the facility budget according to administrative policy
  • ensure purchase receipts are signed and kept on file for ED/Administrator
  • help maintain the self-respect, personal dignity and physical safety of each resident
  • work cooperatively with all other staff and relate favorably to residents and their families
  • maintain confidentiality of resident information and adhere to requirements
  • apply all the home’s accident, fire safety, OSHA and emergency standards
  • be familiar with and assist residents with exercising the Adult Care Home Residents' Bill of Rights
  • assure careful treatment of Adult Care Home equipment and proper utilization of supplies
  • read and adhere to all Adult Care Home and employee policies
  • participate in job-related continuing education as required by home policy
  • perform other related duties as assigned
  • ensure all cleaning supplies are locked when not in use and supervised when in use
