The Housekeeper role within this environment is essential for daily operations, responsible for cleaning both the interior and exterior of buildings using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment. The Housekeeper performs daily tasks such as sweeping, dust mopping, vacuuming floors, and removing spots and spills. They are also responsible for emptying trash and ash receptacles, replacing burned-out light bulbs, and cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including replenishing various dispensers.

Weekly duties involve deeper cleaning tasks such as dusting office areas, conference rooms, and furniture, cleaning janitorial closets and equipment, dusting vents and blinds, and checking inventory levels of supplies. Moreover, project work assigned by supervisors may include stripping, waxing, and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, cleaning windows and light fixtures, tile and grout cleaning, graffiti removal, and assisting with special events and overtime as needed.

The role demands a physically fit individual capable of continuous walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and stair climbing. Attention to detail, safety in handling chemicals and equipment, and the ability to communicate effectively with both supervisors and the public are also vital. This position is a full-time opportunity that allows one to contribute to the upkeep of a vibrant academic community.
