The Housekeeper role is pivotal in supporting the overall food safety and sanitation standards within the manufacturing facility. This position involves regular cleaning and sanitization of production areas, offices, restrooms, and shared spaces, using approved cleaning agents and following established hygiene schedules. The individual will maintain the cleanliness of manufacturing equipment, floors, walls, and surfaces to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. They will manage waste disposal responsibly in alignment with environmental and hygiene regulations and ensure that cleaning supplies are well stocked at all times.
In this role, the Housekeeper must observe all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety procedures meticulously during cleaning operations to support our commitment to delivering safe food products. The position also includes documenting cleaning activities accurately in log sheets, reporting maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors, and assisting with deep cleaning during production shutdowns or maintenance periods. The Housekeeper will be expected to employ personal protective equipment as necessary to uphold safe working conditions. This person will play a crucial role during audits and inspections by maintaining up-to-date cleaning documentation and ensuring all cleaned areas meet inspection standards.
Ideal candidates will have relevant experience or knowledge related to housekeeping or sanitation in food manufacturing or similar environments and demonstrate strong attention to detail and time management. Physical capability to perform the required lifting, bending, and standing involved in the role is essential. This is a hands-on environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, machinery, and possible shift work, including weekends or holidays depending on production demands. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in housekeeping or sanitation preferred
- Knowledge of GMP and HACCP practices a plus
- Ability to follow safety protocols and detailed instructions
- Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks
- Good communication skills
- Availability to work shifts including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in housekeeping, sanitation, or janitorial work within food manufacturing or similar environments is an advantage
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and sanitation procedures in food environments is preferred
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed cleaning and safety instructions
- Good attention to detail and time management skills
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize production areas, restrooms, offices, and common spaces according to cleaning schedules and hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness of manufacturing equipment, floors, walls, and surfaces using approved cleaning agents and tools
- Dispose of waste and recycling materials safely and in compliance with environmental and sanitation regulations
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies such as soap, sanitizers, paper towels in designated areas
- Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and food safety procedures during cleaning operations
- Document cleaning activities in log sheets and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisors
- Assist in deep cleaning during scheduled shutdowns or maintenance periods
- Uphold safe work practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Support audits or inspections by ensuring all cleaning documentation and areas are up to standard
