Our client is an established educational institution committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and distraction-free learning environment across its academic buildings. Specializing in managing public and common areas, the institution prioritizes health and safety for faculty, employees, and students alike, fostering an atmosphere conducive to effective learning and collaboration. This full-time role offers a competitive salary of $35,360 per year and emphasizes dedication, reliability, and skilled maintenance work within various campus locations, including administrative offices and outside venues.
The Housekeeper position is vital in sustaining the cleanliness and hygiene of all interior spaces within the academic buildings. This role involves a comprehensive range of cleaning responsibilities, focusing on eliminating distractions such as unwanted graffiti, dust, dirt, and odors that can negatively impact the learning environment. The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining floors, restrooms, glass surfaces, and furniture arrangements, ensuring that all areas reflect high standards of cleanliness and order. Equipped with knowledge of chemical storage and custodial equipment operation, the ideal candidate will also handle routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and reporting any vandalism or damage to supervisors promptly.
Beyond these primary cleaning duties, the role demands attentiveness to safety protocols, including the proper use of chemical cleaners and pesticides while wearing required uniforms. Physical fitness and the ability to perform various tasks like climbing stairs, bending, pushing, and lifting weights between 25 to 40 pounds are essential to the role. The housekeeper also needs to demonstrate excellent attendance reliability, reflecting the institution's commitment to consistent upkeep and maintenance of its facilities.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with one to two years of relevant experience. Familiarity with maintenance tools, chemical handling, and inventory management will provide an advantage. The position also requires a willingness to travel between New York locations as work is conducted in multiple settings. Reasonable accommodations are offered to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential functions.
In summary, this full-time Housekeeper role is crucial for preserving the academic environment's cleanliness, safety, and overall atmosphere, supporting the institution's mission to provide an optimal setting for education and growth. The role offers a stable career opportunity with competitive compensation and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the academic community.
