Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is a faith-based organization committed to teaching and sharing Catholic beliefs, serving the local community, and fostering unity throughout the St. Louis area. With a rich history of dedication to spiritual growth and community support, the Archdiocese provides a range of religious, social, and educational services to individuals and families in the region. The organization emphasizes compassion, inclusion, and the empowerment of its members as it continues to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of the community.

Within this larger organization, the Regina Cleri Community operates as a dynamic independent living residence specifically designed for retired Catholic priests. Located in Shrewsbury, Missouri, this community offers a supportive and caring living environment where senior priests can enjoy comfort, companionship, and independence while receiving necessary assistance. Regina Cleri Community not only serves as a senior housing option but also as a place where the values of faith and respect for its residents remain paramount.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is currently seeking a dedicated and loving housekeeper to join the team at Regina Cleri Community. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the retired priests who call the community home. The ideal housekeeper will bring strong housekeeping skills, a warm and compassionate disposition, and the ability to work with sensitivity and discretion given the nature of the residents.

As a housekeeper at Regina Cleri Community, you will be responsible for ensuring that the living spaces, including individual priest rooms, common areas, and hallways, are meticulously maintained. This includes routine tasks such as waste removal, bed making, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, and laundry-related duties such as changing bed linens on a weekly schedule. Special care is given to address any unique needs of the priests, especially those who may be ill, away on vacation, or experiencing health changes. The role involves working collaboratively with the maintenance team and other housekeepers, particularly when deep cleaning is required or when maintenance issues arise.

Safety is a key concern in this position. The housekeeper is expected to recognize and respond to emergencies, including smoke and fire alarms, and maintain vigilance for any unusual situations that may impact the health and well-being of the residents. It is important to communicate effectively and compassionately with the priests and team members and to respect the privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information.

The Archdiocese values work-life balance and offers a supportive work environment with flexible working hours, opportunities for remote work when feasible, and generous paid vacation time that increases with years of service. Employees can also participate in Archdiocese-sponsored volunteer events, further connecting them with the community and the organization's mission. As an equal opportunity employer, the Archdiocese of St. Louis ensures that hiring decisions are based solely on business needs and qualifications, promoting a discrimination-free workplace.

Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment screening, including background checks, drug screening, and verification of employment and educational credentials. This rigorous process ensures a safe and high-quality environment for both the residents and staff.

Joining the Archdiocese of St. Louis as a housekeeper at Regina Cleri Community means becoming part of a unique, values-driven community that prioritizes collaboration, respect, and service. The role provides an opportunity to positively impact the lives of senior priests while growing professionally in a fulfilling and supportive setting. If you are a mature, caring individual with strong housekeeping abilities and a passion for serving others, this position offers a meaningful way to contribute to a faith-based community dedicated to dignity and care for its members.
