Job Description
Notre Dame Health Care Center is a skilled nursing healthcare facility deeply rooted in the heritage of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. It is located off the shores of Lake Quinsigamond within the woods of the Worcester Land Trust, creating a serene and healing environment for its residents. The center is dedicated to providing physical, spiritual, and emotional care to its residents, fostering a commitment to high quality and compassionate care. The organization places a strong emphasis on the well-being and dignity of its residents, ensuring that all care practices meet the highest standards. Notre Dame Health Care Center supports a workforce culture that values respect, empathy, and teamwork in serving the elderly and those in need of skilled nursing care.
The role of Housekeeper on a per diem basis at Notre Dame Health Care Center involves performing general housekeeping and maintenance duties within the nursing home during daytime hours. This position is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities include cleaning buildings, removing debris, dusting, damp mopping floors, washing walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces. Housekeepers are also responsible for collecting and disposing of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans, ensuring the center meets regulatory cleanliness standards.
In addition to routine cleaning, this role requires moving equipment and furniture to facilitate thorough cleaning and then returning items to their proper places. The housekeeper must be proactive, seeking out areas that require cleaning and taking the initiative to complete tasks without direct supervision. This position is essential in supporting the health and safety of residents, particularly in a healthcare setting where sanitation is paramount.
Candidates for this per diem housekeeper role are expected to demonstrate the ability to follow both written and oral instructions carefully and consistently. While previous experience working with seniors or individuals with dementia is preferred, it is not mandatory, as training and support will be provided. The ideal housekeeper is attentive, reliable, and sensitive to the needs of a healthcare environment. Flexibility is important since the position may require working various shifts, covering holidays, weekends, and occasionally adjusting shift times to meet facility needs.
Moreover, this position may include additional training to work as a housekeeper in the Assisted Living Building, requiring readiness and willingness to adapt to different areas within the facility depending on staffing needs. This opportunity suits individuals looking for flexible, meaningful work who are passionate about contributing to a caring community dedicated to elder care. The per diem employment status allows for a flexible schedule that can accommodate other commitments while ensuring the facility remains clean and welcoming at all times.
