Job Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma or GED or significant related experience
  • 3 to 6 months of commercial or hotel housekeeping experience
  • ability to comprehend and follow established procedures and verbal/written instructions accurately
  • must read, write, and speak English clearly

Job Duties

  • participates and/or facilitates neighborhood learning circles and activities
  • performs daily housekeeping tasks including moving objects, wiping objects, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, moving the bed, sanitizing all bathroom areas, and emptying garbage
  • completes assigned additional daily household cleaning in resident rooms and public areas such as sanitizing public restrooms, cleaning light fixtures, mop boards, windowsills, spot cleaning walls and windows
  • handles chemicals safely following exact directions and using suggested protective protection
  • completes work orders as needed
  • keeps personal housekeeping cart clean and follows policy regarding stored items
  • keeps personal housekeeping cart locked at all times
  • assures that all resident/client rights are maintained and reports any violations according to policy
  • maintains confidentiality of all departmental and organizational information
  • knows and follows existing lines of communication and authority
  • works tactfully and cooperatively with residents, clients, families, visitors, and staff
  • attends in-services, meetings, seminars as required, and adjusts schedule or works overtime as needed to meet residents' needs
