Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
six months to one year of experience in cleaning or housekeeping
knowledge of cleaning methods and proper use of cleaning chemicals
ability to operate motorized and non-motorized cleaning equipment
good physical condition to perform manual cleaning tasks
adherence to safety and sanitary guidelines
willingness to work flexible hours if required

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
minimum of six months to one year of related experience
knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe use
ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
commitment to uphold health and safety standards

Job Duties

Ensure the Flushing YMCA is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment
perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning
operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment
record and report all needed repairs
ensure the Flushing YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
replace soap, paper towels and other supplies
set up furniture and/or rooms for events
strip and wax floors, also shampoo rugs as needed
follow standards of DOH, DOB, FDNY, HPD and ECB Departments
follow YMCA Housekeeping Policies and Procedures
provide cleaned linens and towels to guest rooms
ensure laundry of linens and towels is done
cleaning of residential rooms
follow and maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines
