Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year experience as a restaurant server, expediter, or food runner
  • Minimum 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Liquor commission card and certification from alcohol awareness program
  • Must be of legal age in the County of Honolulu to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to carry/lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hours per shift
  • Ability to maintain stationary position for half to one hour
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work long 8-9 hours shifts
  • Ability to transport food and beverage orders approximately 15-45 lbs
  • Ability to reach up to 6 feet
  • Any combination of education and experience providing necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience as a restaurant server, expediter, or food runner
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Certification from alcohol awareness program
  • Knowledge of liquor, wine, and food service preferred
  • Ability to anticipate guest needs
  • Ability to maintain positive guest relations
  • Well organized and able to think clearly when managing multiple food orders
  • Good coordination and ability to serve orders quickly
  • Familiar with hotel services and local attractions
  • Ability to suggestively sell menu items and beverages.

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies and service and procedures and standards
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guest, however busy and whatever time of day
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Maintain complete knowledge of menu items, prices, preparation methods/time, major ingredients and quality standards, taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, garnish, and presentation
  • Arrange and expedite food orders accordingly and prepare food tray for delivery
  • Deliver food orders to tables and serve guest within hotel standards
  • Verify all food orders and special requests with servers to ensure correctness
  • Make all varieties of coffee
  • Serve all food courses promptly, efficiently, and courteously
  • Clear each course
  • Remove soiled wares from the table and transport to dishwashing area
  • Thank guest and invite them to return
  • Serve coffee, tea, and designated non-alcoholic beverages
  • Remove solid wares and other items from tables promptly without inconveniencing guest
  • Ensure appropriate silverware and side plates are set when serving food orders
  • Check all orders are plated according to the plating guide and wipe drips and spills
  • Prepare wooden tray with food orders ensuring all needed condiments, garnishes, and utensils
  • Complete closing duties including breakdown and cleaning of kitchen hot and cold line, restocking, and securing supplies
  • Report to manager on duty and perform other assigned duties.
