Job Description

We are a private household seeking a reliable, detail-oriented House Manager/Housekeeper to oversee the daily operations and upkeep of our residence. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, typically from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on site, with occasional flexibility required for evenings or weekends to support hosting and events. The House Manager/Housekeeper role is a unique blend of hands-on housekeeping duties combined with proactive household management responsibilities. Successful candidates will bring a calm, professional demeanor and a natural ability to work quietly and efficiently with an unobtrusive presence throughout the home.

The responsibilities go beyond basic cleaning tasks, encompassing management of household supplies, organization of storage areas, coordination with vendors and service providers, and assisting with home maintenance scheduling. You will also provide essential support for events and social gatherings, including preparation, execution, and cleanup phases. This includes setting tables, coordinating with external parties such as chefs, caterers, and florists, and ensuring the home is guest-ready at all times.

In addition to housekeeping and event support, this role entails personal assistance and lifestyle support tasks. Running errands, managing dry cleaning, grocery shopping, and handling personal items for residents are integral parts of the job. The House Manager/Housekeeper also assists with travel preparations like packing and organizing clothing and personal items, and supports special household projects alongside the Chief of Staff.

The ideal candidate will have a track record in private household management or high-end housekeeping, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills. A calm demeanor combined with clear and professional communication abilities is essential. Job Duties

  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization throughout the residence
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties with high attention to detail and consistency
  • Manage all household laundry, including sorting, washing, folding, ironing, steaming, and proper care of delicates
  • Coordinate dry cleaning services, including drop-off, pickup, inspection, and proper storage
  • Ensure closets, drawers, and storage areas remain organized and well-maintained
  • Manage household supplies and shopping, ensuring all items are fully stocked, organized, and replenished proactively
  • Assist the Chief of Staff with overseeing maintenance schedules and coordinate with service providers such as landscapers, handymen, cleaners, repair technicians
  • Coordinate vendor access, supervise work when needed, and follow up on completed services
  • Lead home organization projects and manage seasonal transitions including wardrobes, linens, décor
  • Ensure the home is guest-ready at all times
  • Handle household errands including grocery shopping, dry cleaning, returns, shipping, and receiving packages
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of household preferences, routines, and standards
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, comfortable environment for residents and guests
  • Assist with the preparation, execution, and cleanup of dinner parties, gatherings, and hosted events
  • Support event setup including table settings, décor preparation, staging, and coordination with vendors such as chefs, caterers, florists, rental companies
  • Assist during events as needed including serving, replenishing items, maintaining cleanliness
  • Handle post-event breakdown, cleaning, laundry, and restoration of the home
  • Be available for occasional evenings and weekends when events or hosting require support
  • Run personal errands and handle ad hoc tasks as needed such as shopping, pickups, returns
  • Assist with travel preparation including packing, unpacking, laundering, and organizing clothing and personal items
  • Support the Chief of Staff with special projects and household-related initiatives
  • Provide flexible support as household needs evolve
