Job Duties

  • Interact professionally, diplomatically and with patience and flexibility with guests, collegians, parents, alumnae, service providers, and community resources representatives
  • Engage daily with collegians during mealtime and through group chats to build relationships, provide a supportive presence and ensure that they feel valued, welcomed and heard
  • Stay within budget for ad hoc expenses, reconcile receipts/purchase orders and review/submit for payment through appropriate avenues such as Smartdata
  • Order supplies such as kitchen, printer, cleaning, paper goods, etc
  • Obtain three detailed estimates for all work to be completed while keeping accurate records of repairs for physical property (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc)
  • Maintain appliances (washer, dryer, vacuums, refrigerators, freezes, etc) and schedule/supervise custom cleanings
  • Communicate maintenance issues to House Corporation Board and coordinate in a timely manner
  • Notify House Corporation Board of all major repairs that exceed cost estimates
  • Immediately report to House Corporation Board any hazards/damages that require insurance claims
  • Make recommendations for long-term care/upkeep of the house
  • Assist House Corporation Board with managing/reviewing fixed asset inventory in April and November
  • Be present and oversee all openings/closings for the house (official breaks/member departures)
  • Regularly check on the house during closures
  • Ensure collegian items are removed
  • Check vacated rooms and closets for remaining items
  • Perform daily house checks by walking around commonly used areas (front porch, hallways, emergency exits, bathrooms, etc)
  • Report problems/issues to appropriate person
  • Respond promptly to collegians' maintenance requests
  • Maintain a log of maintenance issues reported by the collegians
  • Touch base weekly with House Manager and Chapter President regarding any issues
  • Ensure that common areas are uncluttered and that furniture is in good condition
  • Adhere to Delta Gamma/Chapter/Northwestern policies, local/federal laws and notify designated contact of any violations
  • Serve as a liaison with kitchen staff/food vendors to ensure a smooth operation
  • Check that food options are available and ensure that the salad bar remains fresh and refilled
  • Supervise menu meetings and collaborate with chef/collegians to provide nutritious meals within budget
  • Foster good relations with Northwestern FSL, campus peer groups, Quadrangles, House Directors, etc through personal visits/participation in events
  • Remain with visitors at all times, including temporary service providers
  • Communicate at least monthly with the Employment Committee Chair
  • Serve as host at various chapter social events (recruitment, homecoming, Parent's weekend, etc) and ensure guidelines are followed
  • Be onsite during Dillo Day from 8 a.m. through midnight to ensure policy compliance
  • Remain onsite each night except when other arrangements have been made for adult supervision
  • Attend all required training by Delta Gamma and Northwestern either on-site or off-site (may need to travel to another State for training)
  • Conduct two fire drills a year in collaboration with Northwestern
  • Be available for fire inspections with Northwestern
  • Promptly respond to all Northwestern, House Corporation, Alumni, Executive Offices and vendor correspondences
  • Minimal local travel required
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and climb stairs
  • Perform other duties as requested
