The role of House Attendant at Sonesta is integral to upholding the company’s high standards of cleanliness and guest service. Working closely with the Housekeeping Management Team, the House Attendant supports Room Attendants by managing key operational responsibilities such as collecting and transporting dirty linens to the laundry, delivering clean linens to Room Attendant carts, and handling trash retrieval throughout the hotel. This position also encompasses assisting in commercial laundry operations and cleaning public areas including restrooms, exterior entrances, and parking lots. The House Attendant may be assigned special projects by the Housekeeping Manager, providing opportunities to engage in varied tasks including deep cleaning projects and inventory management of laundry supplies and equipment.

The House Attendant role demands a proactive and detail-oriented individual capable of maintaining floor closets and corridors through organizing, trash removal, and floor cleaning using sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming techniques. Effective communication with guests and departmental teams is essential to promptly respond to guest requests, address complaints, and deliver necessary housekeeping supplies to achieve complete guest satisfaction. The position involves routine physical activities such as standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting items up to 75 pounds, requiring stamina and the ability to perform duties safely and efficiently. Adherence to health and safety regulations is mandatory, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to a safe environment for guests and staff alike. Job Requirements

  • Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Previous background in the extended stay industry preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred
  • Other languages beneficial
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities are preferred

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • Work with Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and linens
  • Deliver linens and other supplies to Room Attendants
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of floor closets and corridors including removing trash, wiping down shelves and counters, sweeping, moping and/or vacuuming floors, and storing non-floor closet items
  • Respond to guests' requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Clean designated areas such as public restrooms, storage rooms, and public area spaces
  • Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • Respond to special requests, guest complaints, and delivery of housekeeping/room supplies
  • Minimize waste of supplies and amenities within all housekeeping areas
  • Deliver lost and found items according to established procedures
  • Assist regularly with deep cleaning projects
  • Monitor laundry supplies and equipment when assigned to laundry
  • Operate washers and dryers according to hotel standards and manufacturer guidelines
  • Receive, inspect, fold, and store linens
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through communication with other shifts and management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety laws
  • Perform other assigned duties
