As a Public Area Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of public hotel spaces to align with established brand and hotel guest service standards, along with key sustainability goals. This position is essential in enhancing the overall guest experience by ensuring that all public areas are pristine, welcoming, and compliant with safety guidelines. Your work environment is dynamic and requires a great deal of physical activity, including standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting, all while using cleaning chemicals and adhering to safety protocols.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for guests as you greet and acknowledge them in a courteous and friendly manner. You will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining a variety of public spaces including guest corridors, trash service landings, and linen collection areas. You will also assist with linen delivery and collection between floors and laundry sites. Reporting maintenance issues promptly is another critical responsibility to ensure that any facility problems are resolved quickly, maintaining the aesthetic and operational standards of the hotel.

This position requires you to uphold the hotel's EarthView sustainability program by following environmentally friendly cleaning practices and policies. Your commitment to sustainability will contribute to the hotel's broader environmental goals and enhance the corporate responsibility profile of the brand. Moreover, you will practice safe work habits, including wearing protective equipment and following OSHA and MSDS safety standards, which ensures a safe working environment for you and your colleagues.

Flexibility is important in this role, as you may be called upon to work during holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts, depending on operational needs. Additionally, during peak times or staff shortages, you may take on responsibilities of a room attendant. The role emphasizes teamwork, guest satisfaction, and a proactive approach towards maintaining high cleanliness standards.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous housekeeping experience or equivalent training and a high school diploma or equivalent. Your attention to detail, positive attitude towards guest service, physical stamina, and adherence to safety and sustainability standards will be key to excelling in this position.

Job Duties

  • Greet and acknowledge guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Inspect assigned areas and perform cleaning tasks accordingly
  • Collect trash from the service landings and dispose of in outside trash dumpsters
  • Vacuum and dust guest corridors
  • Pick up bed and other linen from hotel floors and transport to the laundry collection site
  • Deliver clean linen to assigned sections
  • Report maintenance issues
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest areas
  • Respond to guest inquiries and assistance
  • Work as a room attendant when staffing shortages occur or during peak periods
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
