Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous patient nutrition and cooking experience in a healthcare setting
- ability to work full time with flexible hours including mornings and evenings
- knowledge of corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- ability to supervise and manage food service associates
- strong communication skills
- ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties required in a kitchen
- commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace
Job Qualifications
- Previous patient nutrition and cooking experience in a healthcare setting
- leadership skills to supervise kitchen and food-service associates
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- ability to work flexible schedule including mornings and evenings
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- experience with inventory management and training staff
- ability to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
Job Duties
- Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
- coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of executive chef
- cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions
- store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
- clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
- interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- relay relevant information directly to supervisor
- demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them
- keep up with peak production and service hours
- monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- track product production, consumption and waste
- inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
- perform other duties as assigned
