Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous patient nutrition and cooking experience in a healthcare setting
  • ability to work full time with flexible hours including mornings and evenings
  • knowledge of corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to supervise and manage food service associates
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties required in a kitchen
  • commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace

Job Qualifications

  • Previous patient nutrition and cooking experience in a healthcare setting
  • leadership skills to supervise kitchen and food-service associates
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to work flexible schedule including mornings and evenings
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • experience with inventory management and training staff
  • ability to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation

Job Duties

  • Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
  • coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
  • assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of executive chef
  • cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions
  • store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
  • clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • relay relevant information directly to supervisor
  • demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them
  • keep up with peak production and service hours
  • monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • track product production, consumption and waste
  • inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • perform other duties as assigned
