This full-time hourly Sous Chef position is based at Union College, located at 807 Union Street, Schenectady, NY. The role operates generally between 3:00 PM and 11:30 PM, with precise scheduling details provided during the hiring interview phase. The salary range offered is competitive, from $25.00 to $32.00 per hour, and immediate hiring is emphasized. This position is vital in supporting the Executive Chef in all culinary operations, ensuring that food preparation aligns with high-quality standards and safety regulations. Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relay relevant information to supervisor
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
  • Keep up with peak production and service hours
  • Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Track product production, consumption and waste
  • Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Perform other duties as assigned
