The role of Hourly Shift Manager & Team Leader at Chicken Salad Chick plays a critical part in the daily operations of the restaurant. This position supports both the General Manager and Assistant Manager by overseeing shift activities to ensure smooth and efficient service. The Team Leader is responsible for empowering the team to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining compliance with corporate standards for food safety, quality, and employee conduct. A core focus of this leadership role is to foster a motivated and cooperative work environment by training and coaching hourly team members, managing schedule adherence, and maintaining operational excellence throughout the shift. Additionally, the Team Leader guarantees the highest level of hospitality and service by addressing guest needs promptly and professionally.

As a Shift Manager, this position requires strong multitasking abilities and communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management. The individual in this role will also handle administrative duties such as maintaining personnel records and adhering to financial documentation standards as directed by the General Manager. The Team Leader makes key operational decisions during their shift, including managing team member assignments, discipline when acting as Manager on Duty, and ensuring the restaurant environment stays clean and safe according to regulatory requirements. While some decisions such as hiring, pay increases, and vendor selections are reserved for senior management, the Team Leader acts as a pivotal figure in daily restaurant operations, contributing significantly to the restaurant's success and customer satisfaction. Job Duties

  • Assist the General Manager and Assistant Manager in the daily operation of the restaurant within the budget
  • Ensure compliance with established food standards, food quality, preparation and production by adhering to corporate food handling procedures and policies
  • Ensure Chicken Salad Chick procedures are followed in the dining room, service area and kitchen
  • Train and counsel hourly team members who work during Team Leader’s shift
  • Guarantee highest level of hospitality and service to all guests at all times
  • Coach hourly team members during their shift as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all personnel records, team member schedules and reports
  • Prepare and maintain administrative and financial records as directed by the General Manager
  • Ensure specials, promotions, and marketing plans are presented according to company procedures during shift
  • Ensure that hours of operation for the restaurant are maintained during their shift
  • Ensure compliance with established safety and sanitation procedures and all Federal, State, and local regulations during shift
  • Make decisions regarding team member position assignments, disciplinary actions (as needed when acting as Manager on Duty), execution of shift operations and keeping restaurant clean
  • Defer decisions to GM/AM regarding hiring or terminating team members, pay increases for team members, vendor specifications, scheduling and purchases beyond those required to execute normal shift operations
