The Shift Leader role at Dave's Hot Chicken is a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing all restaurant activities during their shift. As the direct point of accountability when on duty, the Shift Leader works closely with the Restaurant Management Team to ensure operational excellence and that all business goals and standards are met consistently. This role requires a highly motivated individual who can supervise team members, coordinate tasks, enforce company and safety policies, and maintain a positive dining environment.

Shift Leaders are expected to lead by example, serving as role models by demonstrating strong performance, outstanding communication, and exceptional organizational skills. They manage employee schedules, monitor attendance and punctuality, delegate responsibilities according to skills, and provide coaching and training to new and existing team members. Strong problem-solving abilities are essential for handling customer concerns professionally and calmly, resolving issues in alignment with restaurant policies.

This role involves hands-on involvement with daily operational duties such as conducting quality and safety checks, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, operating kitchen equipment, balancing cash drawers, and completing necessary administrative tasks. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, opening and closing shifts
  • Ability to work in close quarters and around heat
  • Commitment to Guest satisfaction
  • Reliable transportation to work, a driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Must have telephone or other reliable method of communicating with supervisor and co-workers

Job Qualifications

  • Current student or high school diploma/GED preferred
  • Certified in all stations following the DHC Training Program
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 50 - 75 lbs comfortably
  • Positive attitude and commitment to Guest satisfaction
  • Effective communicator with co-workers and management
  • Excellent organization, planning, time management, delegation, and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Follow the steps outlined in the DHC Training Program to learn and train new skills, duties, and responsibilities
  • Abide by and enforce the rules and direction given by the Restaurant Management Team and refrain from insubordination
  • Communicate to their immediate Supervisor when additional training guidance and practice is needed
  • Effectively and consistently conduct required Operations Walks and Q&A checks to correct areas of opportunity
  • Organize shift schedules for Team Members and monitor attendance, tardiness, and time off
  • Assign duties to specific Team Members based on role and skills
  • Understand how each job responsibility impacts Guests, the Team, and overall Restaurant Operations and success
