Job Description

Vistar is America’s leading distributor of candy, snack, and beverage products with over 25 distribution centers nationwide. Serving customers wherever people work, play, and shop, Vistar has established itself as a vital player in the food distribution industry by consistently exceeding customer expectations and driving innovation. The company prides itself on fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture that values teamwork, integrity, and community involvement. Vistar emphasizes a supportive work environment that rewards dedication and respects all employees, reflecting its commitment to diversity and equal employment opportunity. Its extensive network ensures timely delivery of a wide range of products from everyday snacks to specialized meal replacements across the United States.

The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-B at Vistar is essential to maintaining the smooth flow of the country’s food supply chain. These delivery drivers are not only responsible for the safe and timely transportation of food and food-related products but also serve as the frontline representatives of the company, building lasting relationships with customers through professional and reliable service. The position offers a Mon-Fri schedule with local routes only, ensuring drivers return home daily without overnight shifts or layovers, making it ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be entrusted with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including shuttle, local, overnight, and drive and drop deliveries. Adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, the driver performs all required safety checks and inspections pre- and post-trip, ensuring vehicles and freight meet safety standards. Responsibilities include verifying and handling freight accurately, securing loads appropriately, and maintaining detailed, legible paperwork related to deliveries. Drivers also manage customer interactions professionally, confirming orders, collecting payments where applicable, and addressing any issues such as damages or returns as per company protocol.

This role demands physical capability as drivers will handle product cases that can weigh between 10 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. They will also perform routine housekeeping duties on the vehicle and loading dock area, maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The position requires a valid CDL-B license, meeting state licensing and certification requirements, and a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years. Additional prerequisites include passing a drug test, criminal background check, road test, and possession or ability to obtain a DOT Health Card.

Vistar rewards its employees starting from day one with health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. This offers drivers growth opportunities within a stable, respected company committed to supporting America’s food distribution system. Join Vistar to contribute meaningfully to a critical industry while benefiting from a safe, supportive, and rewarding work environment.
