The role of Director, Hotel Stay Engineering & Technical Operations at IHG Hotels & Resorts is a senior leadership position accountable for the technical governance, operational stability, and architectural integrity of all Digital Guest Experience solutions on a global scale. This pivotal role ensures that hotel technology systems, such as Digital Key, Wi-Fi, and In-Room Entertainment solutions, are not only market-ready but also architecturally sound and reliable in production environments. The director will lead teams comprising engineers, localization specialists, and vendor technical resources to drive technical feasibility assessments, readiness evaluations, and operational governance. They will interface with cross-functional partners including Product, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Procurement to maintain enterprise standards, manage risks, and oversee vendor performance. The role demands a strategic mindset to manage complex technical roadmaps, address regional variations in IT landscapes and regulations, and uphold the scalability and resilience of solutions deployed across diverse markets. The position requires approximately 10% travel, primarily based in Atlanta, GA with a hybrid working arrangement of three days in the office per week. The salary range for this role is $145,000 to $175,000 annually, with eligibility for bonus pay. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, engineering, computer science, or related field
- 10+ years experience in hotel technology, infrastructure, enterprise systems, or technical consulting
- Proven experience in technical feasibility, readiness assessment, technical writing, and architecture design
- Experience working across diverse regional technology environments and regulatory landscapes
- Demonstrated leadership in technical or enablement teams within matrixed organizations
- Strong collaborative experience with product and architecture teams
- Experience with guest-facing hotel technologies, including Digital Key, Wi-Fi, or In-Room Entertainment solutions
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, engineering, computer science, or a relevant field
- 10+ years of experience in hotel technology, infrastructure, enterprise systems, or technical consulting
- Proven experience assessing technical feasibility and readiness for large-scale digital solutions
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Architecture design experience
- Success leading technical or enablement teams in a matrixed organization
- Experience partnering with Product and Architecture teams
- Experience with guest-facing technologies and infrastructure, especially Digital Key, Wi-Fi, and In-Room Entertainment solutions
- Ability to navigate diverse regional technology environments and regulatory landscapes
Job Duties
- Lead a team of engineers, localization specialists, and technical vendor resources responsible for feasibility assessment, site-readiness evaluation, and technical validation
- Define and enforce technical readiness standards for all Digital Guest Experience solutions
- Maintain technical design documents, integration diagrams, and system dependency maps
- Act as the technical counterpart to Stay Product/Program Directors, providing input on feasibility, scalability, integration risks, and regional considerations
- Provide executive-level reporting on technical health, incident trends, and risk posture
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Information Security to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and security expectations
- Own technical operations for in-market stay solutions and establish incident escalation frameworks
- Lead root cause analysis for major incidents and drive corrective actions
- Monitor production reliability metrics and vendor SLA adherence
- Define and enforce technical go-live criteria and approve readiness prior to deployment
- Ensure adequate testing, environment validation, and rollback planning before releases
- Lead technical performance governance across strategic vendors and oversee vendor SLAs
- Establish structured operating models with regional technical leads, evaluating regional IT landscapes and regulatory constraints
- Maintain portfolio-level view of technical risks and dependencies
- Develop multi-year roadmap for technical resilience, scalability, and modernization
