Job Description

Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is a modern and elegant hotel located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. This hotel is notably connected to the city's Convention Center and is conveniently just steps away from Lucas Oil Stadium, making it a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers. The property combines contemporary amenities with classic design elements, offering guests a comfortable and stylish environment. As part of the well-recognized Hyatt brand, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis strives to deliver exceptional hospitality and a memorable guest experience in one of the Midwest's most vibrant cities. The hotel features spacious guest rooms, extensive meeting and event spaces, dining options, and recreational facilities, all designed to cater to the diverse needs of its guests and convention attendees.

The role of Loss Prevention / Security Officer at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is a critical position, focused on maintaining the safety and security of the hotel’s guests, staff, and physical property. This is a full-time, regular employment opportunity with a work schedule primarily from 2 PM to 10 PM, with the ability to cover overnight shifts as needed. The position requires someone who is vigilant, reliable, and able to handle emergency situations with professionalism and calmness.

In this key role, the Loss Prevention / Security Officer will be tasked with ensuring a safe environment by closely monitoring high-traffic areas and conducting regular patrols around the property. Responsibilities include responding rapidly to emergencies such as medical incidents, fire alarms, and disturbances, often acting as the first responder. The officer will investigate and document any security incidents and suspicious behaviors, enforce property rules including trespassing laws, and handle potentially disruptive situations tactfully.

Moreover, this role involves collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary, providing assistance and directions to guests and colleagues, and supporting other departments during events or peak periods at the hotel. The officer is also responsible for monitoring security camera footage and alarm systems to identify potential risks or breaches. Physical demands include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, with commitment to following all safety procedures like wearing personal protective equipment and abiding by OSHA guidelines.

Applicants for this position should possess at least a high school diploma or GED, with prior experience in security or law enforcement preferred but not required, as Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is willing to train motivated individuals. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, basic computer competency for security system monitoring and report writing, and a professional demeanor in high-pressure situations are essential. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is also necessary. Certifications like CPR and First Aid are considered assets or candidates should be willing to obtain them.

Joining Hyatt Regency Indianapolis in this role means becoming part of a supportive and team-oriented environment that values diversity, inclusivity, and professional growth. Security officers play a vital role in creating a secure and welcoming atmosphere where guests feel safe and cared for, contributing to the hotel’s commitment to exceptional service. The company also offers a competitive wage and a rich benefits package including health and dental insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, vision, critical illness, and accident insurance, as well as paid vacation, holidays, sick days, and unique perks like free hotel rooms and discounts.

If you are dedicated to maintaining a safe environment and have a passion for providing excellent customer service, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis encourages you to apply and embark on a rewarding career with a renowned hospitality brand.
