Job Description
This job opening is with a reputable hotel known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hospitality. As a well-established hotel, it prides itself on creating a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors, ensuring that every aspect of their stay is comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, such as a casino hotel, which often includes various public areas that require constant upkeep and attention to detail, including the lobby, pool area, restrooms, and hallways. Employees at this hotel are encouraged to maintain professionalism, mutual respect, and integrity in their daily responsibilities, contributing to a positive and fun atmosphere for both guests and staff.
The role of the Public Areas Attendant is critical in sustaining the pristine condition of the hotel's public spaces. This position is responsible for achieving and maintaining an exceptional level of cleanliness throughout these areas, which contributes significantly to the overall guest experience. The Public Areas Attendant routinely cleans furniture, glass surfaces, mirrors, elevators, planters, and framed pictures located in various public zones of the hotel. In addition to cleaning, the role involves sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors, hallways, and stairs to ensure that every surface is spotless and inviting. The attendant also manages trash removal and the handling of dirty linens from public spaces and guest rooms, demonstrating a commitment to hygiene and orderliness.
Special requests from guests, such as delivering cribs or rollaway beds, fall under the responsibilities of this role, requiring excellent communication skills and responsiveness. The attendant aids in maintaining organized storerooms and properly stocking housekeeping carts with necessary supplies, facilitating efficient operations for room attendants. Assisting in the stripping of linens and trash from rooms of departed guests further showcases the hands-on nature of this position. The role requires the use of specialized floor equipment that demands technical expertise, highlighting the importance of proper training and skill development.
Security responsibilities include managing a passkey during assigned shifts, ensuring that it is signed out and returned appropriately. The attendant routinely inspects all floors by elevator landings and vending areas to empty trash and clean furnishings, ensuring every part of the hotel meets cleanliness standards. This role also keeps employee elevators fresh and clean, contributing to a hygienic work environment for staff.
The working conditions reflect the demands of a hospitality environment that includes exposure to cleaning chemicals and a potentially smoky casino atmosphere. Physical demands are significant, as the role requires standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and performing a variety of physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, climbing, and balancing. Prospective candidates must be capable of meeting these physical requirements and be prepared to deliver high-quality cleaning services consistently.
This full-time position requires candidates to have a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to individuals who possess a Level 4 Gaming License due to the casino setting. The job also demands strong reasoning abilities, basic mathematical skills, and the capacity to read and interpret policy and procedure manuals. Furthermore, the ability to interact with guests and employees courteously and effectively is essential. This position offers an opportunity for individuals who thrive in a structured, team-oriented environment and who take pride in contributing to a luxurious and enjoyable guest experience at a renowned hotel.
