The role of Overnight Manager at Sonesta International Hotels is a pivotal position within the front office operations, reporting directly to the Front Office Manager. This position is critical in managing the overnight and night audit staff, ensuring smooth and efficient operations during these hours. The Overnight Manager is responsible for upholding Sonesta's high standards of guest service, driving employee engagement, and achieving operational and financial goals. In this role, the manager acts as a leader and point of contact, overseeing daily operations, including guest check-in and check-out processes, and facilitating seamless communication among different hotel departments such as housekeeping and maintenance.

Key responsibilities of the Overnight Manager include managing staffing schedules, conducting pre-shift meetings, and ensuring all staff receive adequate training in hotel policies, security measures, and operational procedures. The manager fosters an inclusive and motivating work environment that encourages team cooperation, high performance, and adherence to company culture. Handling guest complaints with professionalism and follow-through is a critical function, alongside ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.   • Proven experience in hotel management

Job Duties

  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure quality and standards are meeting the expectations of the guests and employees, including check-in/checkout processes
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments including housekeeping and maintenance
  • Review resumes for arriving groups
  • organize and coordinate master accounts and group special requests
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and operating equipment, including ordering and receiving
  • Ensure all Sonesta safety and sanitation standards are adhered to
  • Respond to guest complaints and ensure proper follow-up is completed
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as required and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Ensure all staff are properly trained on systems, hotel policies, security, and cash handling procedures, service standards, local laws, and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff and review all information pertinent to the day’s business
  • Coach team by providing specific feedback to improve knowledge, skills, and performance
  • Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably
  • Handle employee issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Motivate employees to perform to their highest standard and establish a trusting environment to enrich the culture
  • Focus on the mission and well-being of the departments, hotel and company
